Discovery

For many young people, educators and parents alike, transitioning to online study has been a big challenge and change.

The award winning flagship YTSP program DISCOVERY has an amazing team of Mentors who have been easing that transition for many refugee and migrant youth across high school, TAFE and University through free, tailored online and phone-based study support and English practice. This helps our youth stay safe, supported and connected at home.

We are continuing to work on ways to increase our service accessibility at this time and take on new referrals. Thanks to our incredibly hard-working team for adapting so quickly and helping others make the most of their education!

Syrian creatives – pathways to vocational training

The Syrian diaspora has settled across Western Sydney over the last 3 years, and what has emerged is a clear insight into the capabilities, expertise and knowledge base that lie with those who have arrived from Homs, Aleppo and Damascus.

Our team are enterprising, agile and have a diverse number of tech skills. They work tirelessly across the Syrian community living in Granville, Merrylands and Guildford, making those all important connections to CMRC staff working across housing, education and employment.

Vocational Training Pathways has proven to be a key gateway for providing alternative education pathways to employment and increased confidence to connect with others and practice their English.

COVID-19 labour opportunities such as in security, traffic control and first aid, has seen a spike in program delivery to clients accessing our pathways programs to vocational certificates. We can fast track advice and referral, and provide the gateway to pre-employment training for our Syrian communities.
