The Community Migrant Resource Centre is seeking an experienced casework and community engagement worker to provide settlement assistance, for individuals and groups of newly arrived migrants and humanitarian entrants in CMRC’s Northern Region catchment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct culturally and linguistically sensitive orientation / life skills information sessions/ workshops to groups of CALD migrants and refugees to assist them to participate fully in the society and settle successfully
To facilitate pathways to learning English, education pathways and employment readiness
Conduct casework and community consultations to identify issues that impact on their settlement and address those issue
Develop and deliver a range of projects and services at the local community level to encourage opportunities for eligible clients to make social connections and participate in their community
Network with various service providers and local councils in the areas covered by the CMRC to raise issues identified and to work collaboratively with other services to address those issues
Undertake the administrative functions associated with the work performed to ensure the maintenance of current and accurate CMRC data records and compliance with DSS policies and procedures

Part Time – 21 hours (3 days per week)
Salary
Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services, Grade 3 -Paypoint 1
Relevant tertiary qualifications in social welfare, social work or related fields
Demonstrated experience/ability to undertake casework and facilitate group activities
Demonstrated community development experience, liaison and networking with community organisations, government and non-government agencies
Understanding of the issues and needs of the newly arrived migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants
Excellent computing skills and ability to use Microsoft applications, email, etc
Excellent communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Valid Police Check and Working with Children Check
Desirable
Current driver’s licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
Language other than English – Arabic highly desirable
