The Community Migrant Resource Centre is seeking an experienced Casework and Community Development practitioner to join our team in the Hills area to work with newly arrived migrant and refugee families as they navigate services, systems and a new life in Australia.
Community Migrant Resource Centre’s SETSProgram aims to equip and empower humanitarian entrants and newly arrived migrants, as they start their new life in Australia. SETS supports key areas of settlement including social cohesion, economic participation, safety & security, education and career pathways and access to mainstream institutions. We aim to provide the tools for clients to settle into Australia with confidence, by building their sense of agency and independence, as they move towards a future of belonging and a sense of wellbeing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertake ‘face to face’ interviews to assess needs and develop case plans to assist SETS eligible clients to become more self-reliant to access mainstream services.
Conduct culturally and linguistically sensitive orientation / life skills information sessions/ workshops to groups of eligible SETS clients to assist them to participate fully and settle successfully.
Develop and deliver a range of projects and services at the local community level to encourage opportunities for SETS clients to make social connections and participate in their community
Initiate and facilitate community education programs through social and support groups to develop confidence, self-esteem and life skills that disseminate information, increase knowledge about services and facilitate self-education to operate independently as soon as possible after arrival.
Network with various service providers and local councils in the areas covered by CMRC to raise issues identified and to work collaboratively with other services to address the issues.
Undertake the administrative functions associated with the work performed to ensure the maintenance of accurate and rigorous CMRC data records in CDS and compliance with SETS policies and procedures.
Undertake administrative tasks as required by the Bella Vista office.
Establish and maintain effective referral networks and pathways with service providers to raise issues affecting the target group and to assist services with their service delivery to this particular group.
Participate in relevant local forums and consultative committees as required.

4 days in the Hills area at Bella Vista Office, Box Hill, Rouse Hill, across the Hills Shire and Hornsby
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential
Tertiary qualifications in Community services or Case management
Demonstrated experience in client case management
Demonstrated ability to follow policies and procedures
Excellent communication and written skills
Ability to meet KPI’s and complete data entry in a timely manner
Have a current Working with Children’s Check
Have a valid National Police Check
Desirable:
Speaker of a language other than English
Have a valid driving licence and access to a reliable and comprehensively insured car
