Community Migrant Resource Centre is a not-for-profit organisation committed to ensuring that refugees, humanitarian entrants and other migrants in NSW are supported and resourced to fulfil their potential as members of the Australian community. Business Advisors should be formally qualified in a business-related discipline, have substantial and contemporary management experience, knowledge and skills relevant to small business and small business advice, and must have qualifications and skills sufficient for that person to be able to deliver the services in accordance with the requirements of this Business Connect program.
The Business Connect program is funded by NSW Government for provision of business advisory services to small business in Metropolitan Sydney and Regional NSW. CMRC Multicultural Business Connect advisors are experienced and accredited professionals who provide confidential advice independently from the NSW Government.
Business Connect Advisory include, but not limited to, starting up, business planning, marketing, digital marketing, HR, business guidance, business skills training, and business referrals.
Current Expression of Interest is sought for specialist Multicultural Advisors to support multicultural communities to tackle a range of business matters to small businesses in Mandarin/Chinese or Dari/Farsi language, and reflective of the cultural diversity and sensitivity of the community.
Advisory services will be delivered across Metropolitan Sydney and Regional NSW. Advisors are expected to travel within Metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW.
Service Deliverables:
- Multicultural Business Connect Specialist Advisor will deliver in-language in-person, and online business advice to Mandarin/Chinese clients or Dari/Farsi clients including group workshops, webinar and events in line with approved KPI.
- Business Connect Advisor will generate new client leads/prospects and develop appropriate networks with key multicultural stakeholders and small business governing bodies.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Fluent in Mandarin/Chinese or Dari/Farsi and provide Business advisory services in-language reflective of the cultural diversity and sensitivity of the community
- Demonstrated ties and engagement with the Mandarin/Chinese or Dari/Farsi cultural community groups
- Formal qualification in economics, finance, marketing, commerce, business management/business-related disciplines
- Experience in operating small business, for minimum of eighteen months or high-level business management, advisory, consulting and business analysis experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, representation, influencing and negotiation skills along with advanced stakeholder and client management experience
- Able to deliver group workshops, webinars and seminars covering broad range of essential business topics including finance, marketing, sales and financial literacy
- Digital literacy experience to support small business growth through encouraging digital innovation
- Communicate effectively, uphold core values of integrity, trust, customer service and accountability when interacting with customers and stakeholders
- Up to date knowledge and skills relevant to small businesses, including trends and emerging issues relevant to small businesses
Desirable Selection Criteria:
- Driver’s license
- Experience in database application and data analysis
Note: Multicultural specialist Advisors who have not run a small business may be considered where they bring a high level of experience relevant to the multicultural specialist service being provided.

The successful candidate must provide a current National Police Clearance (obtained within last 6 months) and a Working with Children Check (for employment) in order to be contracted in this role.
