The CMRC Northern Region team works across the City of Ryde, Hornsby Shire Council, and Ku-ring-gai Council areas, providing essential settlement support for new migrants and refugees, as well as social inclusion programs in established and emerging cultural groups, and the wider community.
Our community programs are expanding rapidly in this region as we connect with more communities and partner organisations. On top of our core settlement casework, CMRC Northern Region also runs:
Conversational English classes and social groups for senior Mandarin-speakers
English and active citizenship classes for newly arrived Armenian-Syrian refugees
The Multicultural Ambassador Program, engaging community volunteers to support newly arrived residents in Ryde
A variety of vibrant, diverse and locally-focused community events
The Women’s Shed Hornsby Ku-ring-gai, in partnership with local service providers and community organisations
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Multicultural Network where we connect with organisations in the area to share learnings, promote collaboration and undertake partnership projects to better serve the community
Additionally, CMRC’s Northern Region is establishing a new arts and creativity hub, with a focus on showcasing and supporting professional and emerging artists from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
