The Community Migrant Resource Centre is seeking an experienced Youth Transition Support Workers to provide targeted and tailored services to our youth clients with early intervention assistance accessing employment and further education pathways.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a full suite of trauma-informed, employability skill support to YTSP clients with a focus on confidence building, English language support and enhanced tech literacy
Co-design with youth, inclusive education support programs and aspirational GOAL Setting Models for clients transiting to alternate vocational pathways
Deliver job readiness programs and innovative employment initiatives such as small business incubators, start-ups and disruptive employment platforms
Establish, build, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the employment space, such as JSAs, DHS, industry bodies and employers.
Provide structured, supported, and inclusive local work experience placements for clients, by implementing purposeful programs that meet individual needs and provides opportunities for decision-making and choice.
Build social capital for youth, by building social connections and linking young people to resources, services, and opportunities
Provide advocacy for clients, who face systemic barriers in accessing mainstream services due to language barrier, or cultural, ethnic, religious bias
Co-design strategies to enhance YTSP’s profile in community, corporate, local business, industry and philanthropic spaces
Work in collaboration with the entire YTSP team, in regard to being responsive to clients’ needs and always working toward positive client-centred outcomes

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
Tertiary qualifications or related experience
Sound experience working with youth from refugee backgrounds (preferably in education or employment support area)
Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practice
Strong networks with community/education/employment sectors & youth referral agencies
Experience in developing strong and collaborative working relationships with education providers, employers, start-up spaces and disruptive employment platforms
Demonstrated ability to be creative and innovative, with a strong client-outcome focus
Pro-active and solution focused
